An interdisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, and dieticians provides comprehensive care for residents with diabetes. To manage the disease and help prevent complications, we regularly provide:
- Blood sugar tests
- Lab work-ups
- Weight screening
- Dietary supervision
- Skin monitoring
- Dental exams and oral care
- Eye exams
Dieticians plan meals for each resident according to their needs and preferences. Residents enjoy a balanced diet that spreads carbohydrates throughout the day to prevent high blood sugar levels after meals. Nurses and dietary staff also provide instruction to help residents maintain independence and control their diabetes.
Residents are also encouraged to participate in exercise or other physical activities to improve insulin response and management.
